Today's Pick (14/12/12/219/914) Look dapper in a bespoke Wardrobe

Look dapper in a bespoke Wardrobe

"BOND ... James Bond."

The phrase that is mouthed by the fictional British secret service agent is well-known worldwide for five decades already.

With code name 007, James Bond in the movies is known not only for action and adventure - accompanied by cool cars, guns and gadgets - but also for style.

Throughout "Skyfall", the latest 007 movie, Bond runs, jumps, fights, and falls, yet he never fails to look dapper. It is hard not to be incredulous.

Bespoke. That's the word.

Today, young men are walking into custom tailoring shops and asking specifically for bespoke or custom-made suits. Just as the idea of bespoke suits has taken off, younger, fashion-forward men have made new what has traditionally been considered conservative, stodgy menswear.

For home-grown company WB Wardrobe Sdn Bhd (Wardrobe), quality will always be in demand, particularly from discerning clients.

And its chief executive officer, Lim Fang Heng, hopes to take Malaysia's bespoke tailoring standards to international levels.

Lim said through master craftsmanship tailoring, every master piece by Wardrobe is crafted with distinct precision in detailing and finishing.

"Our creations are designed with contemporary urban lifestyle in mind and infused with traditional bespoke tailoring techniques of excellence.

"Among them are signature technique of hand-sewn chest canvas, hand-sewn buttonholes, lapel stitch, top grade collars and cuffs fusing, natural buttons and more," Lim said.

Kuala Lumpur-based Wardrobe specialises in made to measure clothing. It has brought not only contemporary and fresh design into the market, but also custom-made, bespoke tailoring in the art of creating a masterpiece suit.

The passion for fine tailoring in Wardrobe was founded in 2001, where its ardour for excellence in fine workmanship, contemporary designs, renowned fabrics and distinguished customer service was appraised and recognised by elite clientele.

Currently, there are three Wardrobe outlets here namely in Bangsar, Pavilion Kuala Lumpur shopping mall and Sheraton Imperial hotel.

Lim said each and every Wardrobe is a unique creation of the ultimate modern style with the finest, international renowned fabrics.

Among the international renowned fabrics are Carlo Barbera & Co, Ermenegildo Zegna, Giovanni Tonella, Guabello, Holland & Sherry, John Foster, Lessona, Loro Piana, Reda, Reid & Taylor and Vitale Barberis Canonico.

Looking ahead, Lim said the company is gearing up to expand its business in the country.

"We aim to have 10 outlets nationwide in the next five years," he told Business Times in an interview recently.

The cost to set up each outlet is RM500,000 onwards, he said, adding that it depends on the size and location.
In term of sales, Lim said Wardrobe anticipates to maintain its performance. Last year, the company clocked in RM8 million sales.
