Technology Park to hold workshop for bio-entrepreneurs
KUALA LUMPUR: Technology Park Malaysia Corp Sdn Bhd (TPM), Malaysia's pioneer technology park and a biotechnology incubator, will be organising a one-day workshop designed specifically for biotech entrepreneurs and companies aimed at capitalising on the global opportunities.
Its chief executive officer Datuk Mohd Azman Shahidin said the workshop will provide bio-entrepreneurs an invaluable insight into available solutions for the commercialisation of their products and technologies as well as ways forward to strategically penetrate the global market.
"TPM, being the pioneer biotechnology incubator, is constantly keeping abreast of the latest global developments in biotechnology and life sciences in efforts to assist and ensure that the technologies and products of Malaysian biotech entrepreneurs are accepted and recognised in the international arena," he said in a press statement release yesterday.
Called the Technology and Business Audit Workshop, it will be held on November 22 at the Resource Centre Auditorium, Technology Park Malaysia in Bukit Jalil.
Participants at the workshop will learn the right techniques on business pitching and will be given a one-on-one business consultation to help develop their networking, business strategy and marketing skills.
One of the UK's youngest scientists turned entrepreneur who is now the chief executive officer of Zyoxel Ltd, an Oxford University spin-out company, Dr Tim Hart, will jointly facilitate the workshop with the chairman of The Eurasia Consortium Ltd, UK, Dr Stuart Kewley.
Both facilitators have immense experience in the subject of commercialisation and internationalisation, having worked on projects with the Russian government.
In addition, other areas of concerns such as gaining the right market niche, information gathering and strategising in the right direction will be addressed by the British experts, Mohd Azman said.
"Following the conclusion of the workshop, TPM will link participants up with ISIS Innovation Transfer Office (UK) to gain access to pool of talents, experts and network of ISIS, and work together to assist them in attaining their strategic goals," he added.
