Promoting multi-racial business environment
KUALA LUMPUR: The Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Kuala Lumpur and Selangor (KLSCCCI) inked an agreement with Nanyang Siang Pau and the New Straits Times Press (M) Bhd (NSTP) for its two upcoming projects, namely "Successful Chinese Business Leader" and "My Hero Award".
KLSCCCI president Datuk Ter Leong Yap said the projects aim to encourage multi-racial business environment and promote social harmony, good business ethics as well as universal values.
Ter said the projects will start in October and end in May 2014.
The projects are also in conjunction with the 110th anniversary of the establishment of the KLSCCCI, he told a press conference after the signing ceremony here yesterday.
Under the pact, Nanyang Siang Pau and NSTP's two newspapers, the New Straits Times and Berita Harian, will be the official media and media partners for the projects.
The agreement was signed by Ter on behalf of KLSCCCI and NSTP was represented by Berita Harian deputy group editor Mahfar Ali, while Nanyang Siang Pau was represented by its chief executive Chan Aun Kuang.
The "Successful Chinese Business Leader" project is mainly to share the successful stories of entrepreneurs who uphold the spirit of multi-racial cooperation with the public.
This may help the public to discover and understand the success of these entrepreneurs as a result of joint efforts of all races, Ter said.
He added that "My Hero Award" project, meanwhi-le, is to acknowledge the helpfulness and supportiveness among races.
Moving on, Ter said, KLSCCCI is planning to work with NSTP in other areas later.
"We also plan to continue this cooperation in future to strengthen the relationship between KLSCCCI and NSTP," he said.
